On Monday, I shared my shabby vintage shelf and cabinet and I also made this Pallet Wall decor piece to go along with those furniture pieces. I had some pallet wood pieces and baseboard trim stacked up in the garage and decided I needed to make a wall decor accent hanging with all the pieces parts. This post contains some affiliate links. I started by staining the pallet wood with a dark stain to make it look aged and old. I applied Country Chic paint in tropical cocktail and backyard picnic to the pallet slates. I used my palm sander to get a shabby washed look on the pallet pieces.
I needed to measure and cut the baseboard trim to fit around the pallet pieces. I used my table saw and cut each trim piece and nailed the frame together. This is when I wish I had a nail gun(thinking out loud). I cut a piece of plywood to fit on the back of the pallet wall decor, to give the piece stability. I applied wood glue and also nailed the plywood to the back of the pallet pieces. I sanded the frame trim pieces and applied Country Chic paint in vanilla frosting. Once the paint was dry, I hand sanded to get the distressed look on the frame.
I like how the piece looked above but wanted to make the piece functional and added coat hooks to the pallet wall decor. I staggered the hooks on each slate to give it a different look. You can use this pallet wall decor to hang jewelry, hats or just keep it as an accent wall hanging. You can also achieve this look even if you don’t have these items laying around in your garage like I did.

I love how simple it is to take a few scrap pieces and turn it into something fun and functional.

Thanks for sharing the article. I was a plan for making a pallet of wall decor with pieces of furniture. I read this article & it’s very helpful for me. I never saw this type of helpful post. But I want to know the scale size of wall decor.

where did you get the hooks?

Beth, I purchased the hooks from Hobby Lobby, they are the best place to get knobs and hooks and reasonable prices!

Ahhh I love it! I should do something like this on a smaller scale to hang in the bedroom. I love the colors you chose.

Leslie, this looks big, but it is only 18 inches wide! It’s a perfect size!
