I know it is easy to get caught up in “Christmas Tree Envy.” Today I am going to share how you can overcome that envy and have a beautiful Christmas Tree on a Budget.
My first tip is to remember that you don’t need a bunch of ornaments on your tree to make it beautiful. Ornaments that have meaning make the tree beautiful and give it sentiment. This post contains some affiliate links. Click here for my full disclosure policy.
I was able to add a tree topper and ribbon garland for $5. I used my Bowdabra {<- – – this is the actual one I use} to make my bow. I use this to make all my bows as it is easy and helps to hold the ribbon in place. Remember not to overlook shopping at your local dollar store for Christmas ornaments. You can find bead or tinsel garland and basic bulb ornaments at low budget friendly prices. Once they are on your tree or in a basket, no one will know or care that they are plastic.
You can also flock your tree to look like the beautiful magazine envy Christmas trees. She used the “Orginal Snow flock.”
Use last year’s Christmas cards to make ornaments. You can also make your own paper garland, I remember doing this as a kid when we decorated our classroom for Christmas. Add a paper lantern as the topper to complete the paper tree theme.
You can use the great outdoors to decorate your Christmas tree by using pine cones, berry branches, dried flowers and more. You can also make your own wood slice garland and purchase an inexpensive bird house at the craft store and paint and decorate it yourself.
Don’t forget to shop the after Christmas sales where you can get some items at 70% off. I do this every year and love it when I decorate the following year and can finally use the new item that I purchased last year. Remember don’t buy it because it is a good deal, only buy it if it fits into your Christmas decor style or if it is a classic piece that will last years to come.
